Horseback Riding, Waterfall Swim
There are a couple of locations for horseback riding on Kauai, but my favorite is located right in the oldest crater in the State where it ALL BEGAN five million years ago. The property looks and feels like a tropical paradise that no movie set could ever duplicate. It’s eye candy at it’s finest. This tour takes you deep into Kauai's interior on hidden trails through an ancient volcanic caldera to the base of Mount Makaleha. This stunningly scenic ride winds through exotic natural growth with a variety of indigenous ferns and wild orchids lining your path. You'll begin with a riding orientation and safety briefing, then your small group (riding at a comfortable walking pace) will have three hours to explore Kalihiwai's lush interior valley. You'll pass through an eighty-acre tropical garden where over 150 different species of palm trees thrive. Strawberry and blueberry guavas hang waiting to be sampled when in season. Yum!
Breathtaking up-close views of the 2,800 foot Makaleha mountain range and its secluded high valley will astonish you. When you arrive at the gorgeous, black volcanic rock waterfall your group will stop for a picnic lunch and a dip in the cool water before returning back to the ranch. Don’t forget your bathing suit!
